The toxic effects of our pornified culture have infiltrated what used to be a safe place for children – the dance studio. Adult choreography that uses provocative poses, adult music that is highly sexual, and adult costumes that exploit children’s bodies have become more and more accepted. At younger and younger ages.

What’s Your DA:NCE Why?

Why are you passionate about protecting the art of childhood dance? Why is it important to you that our culture end the hypersexualization of children through dance? Grab your phone, record a short video or voice recording starting with, ‘My DA:NCE Why is…’, and upload it below. Our collective voices have the power to change hearts and protect children in dance. We may use select submissions on social media and other marketing materials to raise awareness around why people feel so strongly about this issue. Parents and Concerned Adults

The hypersexualization of children in adult costumes, choreography, and music in dance will not stop until parents and concerned adults take action. This type of exploitation is taking place in our communities, our country, and in many countries around the world, making this an international concern. It is crucial we do not allow this type of harmful exploitation to be normalized within this artistic environment.

Dance Community

Dance studio owners and staff are concerned about the media onslaught from dance hypersexualization. In years past, dance studios lacked adequate tools to address the challenges presented by the over-sexualization of children in dance training and performance. But not now. DA:NCE gives teachers practical advice on how to begin a dialogue in their school, studio, or community setting around age-appropriate dance experiences for children.
